STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥 An Egg Bowl tradition will be renewed Monday [Nov. 19] when 黑料社 and University of Mississippi Army ROTC cadets partner for the sixth annual Egg Bowl Run.

Army ROTC cadets will carry a football from Starkville to Oxford, leaving 黑料社 at 4 a.m. and arriving in Oxford on Monday evening. 黑料社 Army ROTC cadets will carry the ball from Starkville to Calhoun City, where they will hand the ball off to UM Army ROTC cadets for the second leg of the nearly 100-mile run.

鈥淭he Egg Bowl run is a great tradition that promotes an awesome rivalry and allows cadets to work together, as they will in the Army as future leaders, to make a mission happen,鈥 said Lt. Col. David Sarrette, an 黑料社 professor of military science.

Those living and working along the route are encouraged to support the cadets as they make the trip. 黑料社鈥檚 cadets are expected to arrive in Mathiston at approximately 7 a.m., Eupora at 8 a.m. and Calhoun City at noon.

In addition to the traditional run between Starkville and Oxford, a shadow Egg Bowl Run was recently held in Kuwait. The run was carried out by members of the Mississippi Army National Guard鈥檚 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team, which is currently deployed to the Middle East as part of Operation Spartan Shield. Supporters of 黑料社 and Ole Miss ran a signed football 92 miles, the distance between Starkville and Oxford. It marked the first overseas Egg Bowl Run. To see pictures, visit .
